Is there any relationship between labor productivity and gender?

I was debating with a friend who argued that women are less productive in workplace than men, do you think there’s a relationship between labor productivity and gender?

No. At workplaces men often spend their time building social and business networks, while woman slave away unacredited.

as a manager just new posting in a factory, few problems found in the new place: productivity low, not quality work, relationship in between staff and even the boss always tense. how to solve these problems using creatif and proactive way?

Make others accountable for their work. Do your job the best that you can. Set pace for productivity, inspect work periodically, set fraternization rules, and take some of the load off the boss. Good Luck

How do i answer the question how can you increase productivity in store x ?

in a retail management interview

It is a matter of increasing the desire to do better. That has many answers but to determine what will work, you have to know the people. One method to do that is to have a questionaire. Ask them to prioritize (Their priority only) many different things. Advancement, money, time off, bonus, recognition, etc. That will given an idea what motivates each individual. Then if you play to that motivation, you can increase productivity. Any method only works if it motivates the employee. The other option is to hire people who are all motivated the same. That is hard to do.

What’s the best way to fire an employee?

We have an employee who has been with us for about three months now and is only working at about half the productivity of the other employees and has shown no signs of improvement. It’s costing us money to have this person work for us, so they really have to go.

How should we go about doing it? Any small business owners or anyone else with appropriate experience at this have any tips? Thanks.
Needless to say, we’ve never actually had to fire anyone before.
A bit of added context:
We are a very small couple-run business with a handfull of part-time employees.
We are in an at-will employment state.

good question….try to say it as nice as possible..i cant think of any right now..but im sure that u’ll think of something….O and dont tell them their fired infront of people..its embaressing..im sure u already know that

Does anybody see a connection between illegal immigrants and decreased productivity of the U.S.?

My personal view on the subject is that immigration has gotten out of hand and the biggest difference that I can see (at least in the cities) is that immigrants today utilize US markets for profit and export that profit out of our country, whilst immigrants of old came here and stayed here and spent their profits here. Just looking for any views on the subject. Thanks.

This is a very simplistic view of how immigration works and the effects it has on the US.
For many years and even today immigration builds this country. The fact that some send money home is insignificant because very few ever make enough that they can afford to send more than they earn and most never earn enough to send any at all. Some will live in bad conditions, but most won’t.’

If you want a fascinating look into immigration read the History of Immigration Through the 1850s, http://www.crfforum.org/topics/?topicid=35&catid=8&view=document&id=74

It might just change how you look at immigration in the US.

need tocompare and contrast at least three performance measurements within a project?

Meet with your professor or instructor. That’s why they have office hours, you know, so they can give individual instruction.

It’s not only for those who need extra help but also for those who want to go beyond the average. There’s no stigma or penalty attached. Most professors welcome the opportunity to teach one-to-one.

This is the one bit of advice that I wish I had had before I went to university. Take advantage of your professors. Build relationships with them. It makes for a far more interesting and enriching experience.

Performance Management System in your work place?

Hi!

What are some of your performance management system in your work place and how do you resolve that problem, what do you do about it?

What about your KPI’s (key performance indicator), how about appraisals?

The more information you provide the better you earn yur points from me. "HONESTLY" :-)

Thankyou

Performance management includes activities to ensure that goals are consistently being met in an effective and efficient manner. Performance management can focus on performance of the organization, a department, processes to build a product or service, employees, etc.

Ten Top Performance Management Tips
By Martin Haworth

1. Talk to Your People Often
By building a great relationship with your people you will bring trust, honesty and information. This gives you a head start in Performance Management of your people.

2. Build Feedback In
On the job two-way feedback processes gets rid of the nasty surprises that gives performance management such a bad name. By building it in as a natural activity, you take the edge away.

3. Be Honest
By being frank and honest, which the preparation work in building a great relationship has afforded you, both parties treat each other with respect and see each other as working for everyone’s benefit.

4. Notice Great Performance
When you see good stuff, shout about it! Let people know. Celebrate successes and filter this into formal processes.

5. Have a System
Performance Management is a process and needs some formality – especially for good personnel practice and record. This need not be complicated, but it needs to be organised and have timescales.

6. Keep it Simple
But do keep it simple. If you have a relationship with your people that is strong anyway, you already know what they are about. Formal discussions can be friendly and simple, with formality kept to a minimum.

7. Be Very Positive
Celebrate great performance! Focus on what’s going well. It’s about successes and building on strengths, not spending ages on their weaknesses – that serves no-one. Go with the positives!

8. Achieve Their Needs
Remember that we all have needs that we want fulfilling. By working with your people to create outcomes that will do this, you will strengthen your relationships and channel effort in a constructive direction.

9. Tackle Discipline
Whilst it often happens, Performance Management is not about managing indiscipline. That has to be managed in a different way. By setting clear standards in your business that everyone understands and signs up to, discipline becomes much, much easier.

10. Learn from Mistakes
As part of regular on-the-job and informal review, mistakes will come to light; things will go wrong. By using the ‘What went well? And ‘What could you do differently?’ format, the unsatisfactory performance becomes controllable and a positive step.

Try these ten out, maybe not all together, but one at a time. Have fun! There are other benefits apart from just improving the performance of your people

Whats something good to do before a run to help increase productivity?

Stretching of course, but besides that maybe a light snack like a bannana.

Is more govt jobs the answer? Why do socialists hate capitalism? If you are smart, would you go work in govt?

sure some financial institutions have failed lately but over 200 years of capitalism has worked very well in growing the economy & creating real productive jobs.

Do you want a bigger govt when little productivity?
bobby sure if u r a paper pusher

Since most government jobs just provide services to the public they don’t produce income, these types of jobs are useless (for economic growth) and require tax funds or fees to support them.
